Abstract
Islamic education in the contemporary era faces the challenge of integrating Islamic values with scientific advancement, technological development, and the competencies required in the 21st century. Educational institutions are expected to develop learning systems that not only strengthen students’ faith and moral values but also enhance academic competence, literacy, creativity, and social skills. This research aimed to describe the best practices of Islamic education management at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta as an innovative Islamic educational institution. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis, supported by online information from the school’s website, social media platforms, and relevant literature. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated that SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta implemented an integrative Islamic education model by combining the national curriculum with Al-Islam dan Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values, Islamic character habituation, literacy development, student creativity enhancement, soft skills development, and technology integration. These practices demonstrated the school’s efforts to establish an educational ecosystem that balanced spiritual, intellectual, social, and technological competencies. The implications of this research suggest that Islamic educational institutions can develop adaptive educational models by maintaining religious identity while responding effectively to contemporary educational demands.
